Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her highly laudable performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano won her several awards which included an Oscar. The accomplished actress started her career in acting on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. Acting has always been her obsession. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original production. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear. But she refused to let that to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. When she was a teenager, she was a drama student in college and moved into New York City from Pittsburgh to follow her dreams. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and the pair collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. She landed one as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in numerous TV shows as well as series and films. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
